Active kids are more likely to show improved concentration, be more attentive, and earn higher grades. Rates of overweight or obese students between the third and fifth grades has been dramatically increasing, according to the Utah Department of Health.
To help curb this trend, Intermountain Select Health-care created a unique program for the fourth-grader students in Utah elementary schools. Called STEP Express, nearly 100 schools are currently participating in this free program that targets students through health education and fitness challenges.
At the end of the school year, the top three schools with the most student participation recieve $2,500 grant to be used for health and fitness improvements or projects on school grounds.
Encourage you child’s school to sign-up for STEP Express.
